From idea to storefront: opening your first location
Opening a physical location is a big step — and the founders who succeed almost always validate demand before they sign a lease. Talk to real customers, run a pop-up, or sell online first to prove people want what you're offering.
Once demand is clear, size the space to your actual needs. Too much square footage means rent that sinks you; too little limits growth. For retail, foot traffic matters more than size; for a warehouse, it's about throughput and location near your customers.
Budget for more than rent: build-out, permits, equipment, inventory and a few months of operating cushion. This is where many first-timers underestimate — use a startup cost calculator and add a buffer.
Financing the build-out can come from an SBA loan, investors, or a landlord tenant-improvement allowance. At the Adonait Hub we source the right space, arrange the financing and help you open — apply and we'll match you with an office, storefront or warehouse.
